Pro- Am
For over 25 years Continental Country Club has been as host to the Florida Professional Golf Tour’s Continental Open, featuring some of the top mini-tour players in the country. In the past, players like Don “Big Break” Donatello who tied our course record of 62 and Dave Rummells have played.
In 2008 this event became a charity event to raise money for the American Cancer Society.
The 2020 Florida Professional Golf Tour (FPGT) Pro-Am and Wildwood Open held at Continental Country Club was once again a tremendous success. Despite stiff winds and cold conditions on Friday, 88 amateurs and 22 golf professionals paired up for the Pro-Am. The Pro-Am benefits Relay for Life and $3,500 was donated to the charity from this year’s event. Winning teams from this year event were:
1st Place- Bill & Julia Thaler, Betty Strand, Barb Jolin. Golf Professional- Austin Sipe\2nd Place- Betty Stripling, Susie Cook, Jeanette Walter, Nancy Steele. Golf Professional- Tyler Gray
3rd Place- Bob Benderman, Bob Zavesky, Richard Cataldo, Frank Urso. Golf Professional- Trey Shirley
The FPGT Wildwood Open had a field of 70 golf professionals competing for two days on the Continental Country Club golf course for a $21,000 purse. The weather was great, the greens were fast and course conditions led to some great scoring.
